My work reflects the fragility of societal reality, presenting alternative symbolizations and staging the paradoxical coexistence of conformity and individuality. In my artistic language, I unravel systemic structures by disrupting industrial functionality into playful or exaggerated features, committed to articulating my voice and celebrating diverse expressions.
我的作品呈现出现实生活中的脆弱与不稳定。通过观察和重构机制化的固定格式，作品以矛盾和暧昧的形态展示了不同身份之间的共性和差异，探讨个体与集体之间的失衡关系，创造多元声音。
Yang Mai 麦扬 (b. 1991, Guangzhou, China) is an artist based in Chicago and New York. He holds a Master’s degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. He is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts.
Mai’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Beijing, and Nairobi, and has been presented internationally at CUE Art Foundation, New York; ChaShaMa, New York; Three Shadows Art Centre, Beijing; Zhou B Art Center, Chicago; Blanc Gallery, New York; Li Tang Gallery, New York; The Bridge Arts Foundation, Los Angeles; and Art Miami Fair, Miami, among others.
His work has been covered in numerous publications, including El País, The New York Times, Artnet, Artforum, Contemporary Art Daily, and Vogue, among others.
麦扬（1991年生于中国广州）是一位现居芝加哥和纽约的艺术家。他先后获得芝加哥艺术学院硕士学位与北京服装学院学士学位。2021年获得National Endowment for the Arts美国国家艺术基⾦会奖。
麦扬的作品曾多次在纽约、芝加哥、北京和内罗毕举办个展，并于纽约CUE艺术基金会、纽约ChaShaMa、北京三影堂摄影艺术中心、芝加哥Zhou B艺术中心、纽约Blanc画廊、纽约Li Tang画廊、洛杉矶The Bridge Arts Foundation及迈阿密Art Miami艺博会等国际机构展出。
他的作品曾被El País西班牙国家报、纽约时报、Artnet、当代艺术⽇报、华尔街国际杂志、中国⽇报、雅昌、CGTN、Vogue，等报道。
